Upon looking back, it seems that the past 25

years have followed the same trends as back

from when we were in high school in the 8os. We
look back upon the days when rallies in Makati
and demonstrations in Manila were hip and
norm, and wearing yellow was a fashion
statement. These then brought us to the'86
EDSA revolution and the unity of the people that
brought an unwanted leader down. How the
world marvelled at the Philippines thenl
Unfortunately, our country's triumphs as a,
people have been bogged down by age-old
issues of corruption, negligence and poverty. But
as women of the Assumption, we dare not
succumb to defeat by believing that this pattern
will never change. Why? lt is because we have
been imbibed with the Spirit of hope, strength,
and service
-
striving always for change for the
better, not only for ourselves, but for others
around us as well. We acknowledge our role as
prime movers in our communities, in our country
and in the world as a whole.

Now, for the first time in many
many years, the Philippines is
finally rising up to take its place as
a progressive nation in the world.
This very day, by God's grace and
ourfqith, we see His promises of
prosperity and blessing for our
country coming to pass for future
generations to enjoy and benefit
from.
