THE CONFLICT BETWEEN DALAI

LAMA & CHINESE GOVERNMEMT

The Dalai Lama is a High Lama in the Gelug or
the Yellow Hat school of Tibetan Buddhism.
He is the Head of State of the Central Tibetan
Administration.

He is the 14
th
Dalai Lama for the
year 2013.
His name is Tenzin Gyatso.
The debate is on the subject that is Whether the
territories in the Peoples Republic of China
that are claimed as political Tibet should be
separate and become Sovereign State.
It is generally believed that Tibet and China
were independent prior to Yuan Dynasty.
The 13
th
Dalai Lama in 1913 had said that the
different dynasties like the Qing and the Yuan
Dynasty had agreed that Tibet would be under
China but Tibet would be governed by the
priest or the Lama and not the Chinese
Government.
The 14
th
Dalai Lama , Tenzin Gyatso, in 1959
came to Dharamshala, India and established a
Government in Exile.
Till then the government in exile is fighting to
get control over Tibet.
The Tibetans had to face many problems
imposed by the Chinese Government.
But now in the recent years it has declined and
many of Tibetans are in Dharamshala, India.
In 1951, an agreement was signed between the
Tibet and China but it was buried in 1959 as the
14
th
Dalai Lama fled and came to India.
