Nordic Performance Coach: Level 2 Club Coach (roller ski) Training

Dates: Fri 25, Sat 26, and Sun 27 July 2014 Place: Glenmore Lodge Cost: 120 Times:
9.30am-4.30pm each day. Meet at the roller ski track at 9.30 a.m. GBR junior and
senior athletes are exempt a technical assessment and so may attend just Sat and
Sun (Cost 80 for exempt candidates).
Course tutor: Roger Homyer NPC level 4 (IVSI) coach and tutor
What will I need? Classic and skate roller skis, poles, boots, pen and paper, helmet
and glasses. Highland Nordic can supply roller skis if required. Please bring your own
helmet and classic ski poles.
Do I need to join Snowsport Scotland? Yes. You must register and pay for
membership of the coaching scheme prior to attending the course. This provides
benefits including insurance for coaches. Go to www.snowsportscotland.org.uk
What level of skier must I be? Proficient in skate and classic techniques. The course
will cover some aspects of personal performance although the main focus will be on
coaching others.
Will I have to do any coaching? Yes. You will be required to deliver sessions during
the course. At least one of these sessions will be assessed. You will be given time to
prepare your sessions.
In order to gain the level 2 qualification what else must I do? You will need a
current first aid certificate (12 hours), have attended a 3 hour child protection course,
and gained 30 hours coaching experience after passing the course. Send this
information to Snowsport Scotland and receive your badge and certificate. You will
also need to be 16 years old to attend the course, and 18 to gain the full qualification.
What pre-course materials will I receive? You will be sent the course tutors pack.
This includes all the information given to tutors about running the course.
