garter stitch scrubber and dishcloth 2012 Arcelia Rodriguez

tawashi/scrubber:
Use 1-4 colors or any combination of colors of worsted weight cotton yarn, and US 8 needles.
Size: diameter is approximately 5". Gauge = about 4 sts/ in in garter. (Precise gauge is not important.)
CO 8
Knit 16 garter ridges (32 rows) for rst strip with color A. BO all stitches on right side, not too tightly, leaving a
12-inch tail.
[Color B:]
Then, with color B if you want to change color, pickup 8 sts on right side of the color A strip you just knit, and
knit for 16 garter ridges. Again, BO all stitches on right side, not too tightly, and leave a 12-inch tail. (In the
diagram below, you can see where section B attaches to section A. Note also that according to the diagram,
the movement of knitting is clockwise.)
Repeat "[Color B:]" instructions 2 more times with colors C and D (or with your choice of color sequence), until
you have the equivalent of four strips.
Attach strips to each other to form circular shape of scrubber with the help of the diagram:
Looking at your work on right side, as it is oriented in the diagram, seam sides and tops together with the 12-
inch tails from the bind-off, or with a completely different color yarn for contrast, as follows:
Sew A2 side to D1 right side, and
A1 left side to D1 top
Rotate work 90 degrees counter-clockwise, then:
Sew B2 side to A1 right side, and
B1 left side to A1 top
Rotate work 90 degrees counter-clockwise, then:
Sew C2 side to B1 right side, and
C1 left side to B1 top
Rotate work 90 degrees counter-clockwise, then:
Sew D2 side to C1 right side, and
D1 left side to C1 top
If there are any ends, weave them into the scrubber. Knit i-cord loop if desired by picking up 3 sts from
scrubber, knitting i-cord until desired length, and attaching i-cord end to scrubber.
