How can I help my child?

Strategies to Enhance
Reading
As a p arent, there are many things you
can do to help your child engage in
reading and also become a better reader.
1. Encourage your child to read at least 30
minutes daily and ask questions about it.
2. Model good reading habits yourself.
Read the same book as your child so you
can discuss the book together.
3. Read aloud to your child or have your
child read to a sibling or close family
member.
4. Talk about words whenever an
opportunity presents itself. Have your
child use the dictionary also.
5. Visit the local library
