OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this project is to construct a vehicle model
using a spiral torsional spring.
This will store the energy of the pedaler by winding up the spring
and release this energy by unwinding the spring.
Our project aims at designing a setup that will help in moving the
vehicle forward without any cumbersome effort.
What is spiral torsional spring?
Spiral torsional springs are made of rectangular
section metal ribbon that are wound flat,
generally with an increasing space between the
coils.
Winding the spring by using a shaft at the center
stores energy by twisting the spiral tighter.
The force of the spring then turns the shaft as it
unwinds, until the next winding is needed.
The free end of spring has to be fixed at a point
called the pinner for the winding process.
TOOLS AND COMPONENTS:

Spiral torsional spring.
Frame to support the spring.
Shaft that holds the center of the spring.
Gears to transmit the motion in the desired
direction.
Shoe to control the unwinding of the spring.

PRELIMINARY DESIGN
ADVANTAGES
Our project can help the general public to move short
distances without using much energy within a city.

It will be a comparatively cheap mode of transport.

It is a eco friendly project.

It can be the eye opener for larger applications of spiral
torsional spring.
