6TH GRADE HAPPENINGS...

WOW! It is so hard to believe that we will be wishing our 6th graders good luck in Junior
High School soon! Before we give them those last words of encouragement and remind
them to do well we will be honoring their intermediate years at Bentley! On June 5th we
will be treating our students to breakfast cooked by the wonderful Bentley teachers and
served up family style. We will be serving pancakes, sausage and fruit cocktail along with
apple juice. If you need ingredients please let us know ahead of time. After breakfast we
will honor each student. This is a student only event. We will send home the memory
sheet we have completed for the last 3 years at Bentley so you can see! This is a special
day and we encourage all students to dress up like they were going out to eat. This is an
exciting event at Bentley that we are so proud to host for our students! Please let your
child's homeroom teacher know if they cannot participate in the meal. Thank you for
sharing your children with us. We have enjoyed getting to know them and watching them
grow into the ne young students that we are sending to 7th grade!
On Friday, June 6 all Bentley students will participate in Fun Rotations. All students will
be playing kickball, whife ball, volleyball, and other fun games. Students should dress
for the weather, wear gym shoes, and bring a water bottle.
A friendly reminder that all online school supplies must be ordered by Monday, June 9th.

MRS. MORGAN
This week we read two nonction selections from
our Story Town book. The rst was Next Stop
Neptune. It was all about the solar system and the
objects there. The second selection was Titanic. It
told of the search to nd the Titanic. We paired
this with an article about MA370. Students wrote
about the difculties and obstacles in nding the
Titanic and the missing MA370. Next week we
will continue reading selections from Story Town
and keep reviewing grammar concepts. We will be
working up until June 6. Students should be
prepared to have some fun, but still continue to
learn. It has been an amazing year working with
all of your children, thank you for the
opportunity! Enjoy summer and best of luck in
junior high!
MR. RAKOCZY
Rakoczy Language Arts: This week we read a
nonction story about the Titanic and the hard
work it took to nd it. This week we also nished
The Westing Game. We each selected a character
from the book, sketched what we thought they
looked like, and used character traits to describe
each character. We also began watching the
movie on Friday. We started working on our end
of the year activities.
Rakoczy Social Studies: We are working on our
end of the year ABC books.
MS. RUHL
This week, we nished reading our novel "Crispin:
The Cross of Lead." Next week, we will take an
informal quiz on the book. Students will be able
to use the books, and they should not need to
prepare above and beyond that! The kids have
put together collages about the Middle Ages. We
also nished our Grammar topics for the year by
studying adverbs this week. We will do a few
activities to review all of our Grammar concepts
with the remainder of our school days. Our class
has nished our major Writing topics this year,
but we will continue to do free-writes. Students
should be prepared for schoolwork up until the
last day, please!
MISS TENBROECK
Math: This week in math, we nished chapter 3
and took the very last test of the year on
Wednesday! Students did a great job on the
integers test. We also practiced writing
expressions and equations. Next week, there are
a lot of activities happening and we will be
reviewing and playing games to wrap up what we
have done this year in math. I hope everyone has
a fantastic summer!
Science/Social Studies: This week in science, we
nished chapter 3 on reproduction and took the
test on Thursday (the last test of the year)!
Students made key chains with beads
representing DNA for each letter of their names.
They also used their knowledge of Punnett
Squares to create fantasy animals. Next week, we
will be reviewing what we've learned this year in
science and social studies by making magazines
and playing some end of the year games! I hope
everyone has a fantastic summer!
MRS. VOSS
This week we nished Chapter 3 and tested on
Thursday. Tests went home on Friday and
students did an awesome job! Our last unit of
study is Chapter 4, which focuses on linear
equations and functions. We will be doing a few
selected lessons in this chapter starting with
interpreting verbal expressions to help us write
algebraic expressions and equations. We have
had an exciting year in math and my students
deserve a pat on the back for all of their hard
work! Parents and Guardians, thank you for the
support you show your child, you make a huge
difference in their lives. Have a wonderful
summer and enjoy Martino next year!. Finally,
we are proud to announce the birth of 29 baby
chicks. We have had a great time holding them
and coming up with some creative names for
some of them. A big thank you to Hunter Haven's
grandfather who made all this possible by
donating the chicken and duck eggs!!! Stay tuned
to our webcam via the Bentley homepage as we
await the hatching of Mr. Rakoczy's duck eggs
next week.
