Presidents Update

Im so proud to have heard the news that Community
Hospital has been re-designated a Baby-Friendly
hospital through 2018. This wonderful accomplishment
was achieved through the teamwork and dedication of the
Maternal Child Health, L&D, Couplet Care, NICU and Pediatric teams who are committed
to practices that lead to improved health outcomes for babies and mothers in our
community.

Being Baby-Friendly recognizes that we continue to offer the gold standard of care in
providing breast-feeding mothers the information, confidence and skills needed to
successfully initiate and continue breast-feeding their babies.

These continued best practices are the key to our success. Thank you for all that you
continue to do in providing outstanding care and service to our patients.

infants. Achieving the Baby-Friendly designation is not an easy
task. However, the quality of care provided, the resulting
decrease in morbidity and mortality association with optimal

Important HIPAA Message From Your Service Area FPO
Avoid the Most Common HIPAA Concern: Document Mix-up
Did you know that accidentally giving the wrong document to the
wrong patient is currently the most common HIPAA concern?
Teresa Hayman, Service Area Facility Privacy Officer, recommends
taking an extra moment to confirm that you are giving the right
document to the right patient. Double checking can save you (and
Teresa) the time and pain of reporting and documenting a mix-up.

Your Questions: Were Listening *NEW*

Q: When are we getting el ectronic health records (EHR)?

A: Were so glad you asked, because there is exciting news to share. This week, the
early engagement process of implementing EHR will begin at Community Hospital and
St. Bernardine with a kick-off meeting on May 21, so well officially be on our way. The
EHR system is scheduled to go live at CHSB and SBMC in September of 2015. And while
that may seem like a long time from now, this is a massively complex undertaking. The
good news that is over 20 other Dignity Health hospitals have already implemented EHR,
and we are the fortunate benefactors of those best practice learnings. Read more.
