SUMMARY

Electrolysis is the process of decomposition of an electrolyte caused by electric current . Factors

that affect the electrolysis are electric current, solution concentration , agitation , and time . the used of
electrolysis is to create other compounds such as metal elements , halogens , hydrogen , and oxygen .
The applications of electrolysis are electroplating , elektrorefining , and elektrowinning . The purpose of
the experiment are to determine the weight attached to the Cu cathode after the electrolysis process ,
and to determine the levels of residual Cu2+ in solution electrolysis using iodometric method .
The materials used are CuSO

, starch , and aquadest . The tools used are
electrochemical tank , copper rods , nails , graphite , ammeters , adapter , magnetic stirrer , buret ,
stative , clamps , and flasks. The first step is stringing the electrolysis tool , doing electrolysis and then
perform the appropriate variables have been determined . Further weighing the cathode and analyze
the levels of Cu

on the rest of the electrolysis solution . First , mix 5 ml of the solution remaining, 3 ml
of KI to the Erlenmeyer and then close it with a watch glass . Let stand for 5 minutes in a dark place .
Wash the watch glass with aquadest to the Erlenmeyer . Titration with Na

until a light brown color .
Add 3 drops of starch , titration to a milky white color .
From the experimental results , the greater of electrical current, the mass conversion volume
conversion due to the greater because the amount of Cu on the cathode attached to the larger ,
corresponding Faraday law . The existence of stirring resulted in mass conversions and volume
conversions greater because stirring can lead cations toward the cathode . Our advice , carefully
weighing the cathode and current when observing color changes on titration.
