Free State Patriots Endorses
Statehouse candidates in Cecil County
Free State Patriots (FSP) hereby announces its endorsement of the following candidates for
Legislative District 36 in Cecil County and other eastern shore counties to serve in the Maryland
General Assembly:

Richard Sossi (Senate)
Jeff Ghrist (House of Delegates)
Michael D. Smigiel (House of Delegates)

These endorsements are made on the basis of an inclusive, consensus vetting process among
members of the Free State Patriots (FSP), a non-partisan, public-interest organization in Maryland,
which seeks to evaluate and compare candidates to measure their commitment to the principles of
liberty and limited, constitutional government.

The FSP vetting required candidates to submit an application and questionnaire for review,
which is made available to FSP members and the general public at the website of the Patriot Vetting
committee (PVC): http://patriotvoting.com/states/maryland. Candidates are then invited to
participate in a public forum to review their positions on the issues. The candidate forum for
Legislative District 36 in Cecil County was held on May 14, 2014 at the Cecil County Administration
Building in Elkton, MD. An audio recording of this forum was prepared is made available to all FSP
members and the general public at the above PVC website.

Free State Patriots is open to all voters in Maryland who are committed to the basic principles
of liberty and limited, constitutional government. FSP is conducting forums and vetting for various
