Message: Great leaders have the ability to surround themselves with great individuals. According to Gallup, the best leaders have the following qualities:
They are always investing in
strengths.
They surround themselves with
the right people and maximize their talents.
They understand their
followers needs. Why do they follow? People follow leaders for very specific reasons. When asked, followers are able to describe what they need from a leader. They want trust, compassion, stability and hope. As a leader, we cannot survive without the support from the followers. In addition, leaders should actively seek individuals with different backgrounds, different experiences, and different skills to build a team-a team that is a great asset to an organization. How do you form a great team? What makes your team great? ELDREDGE E-NEWS Area 2 October 28, 2013

ALFTA Walk-through: You should be completing your required and documented 15 min. PDAS walk-through of all teachers currently on ALFTA. Keep in mind that you will have to submit the date of the fall and spring walk-through when you turn in PDAS Summative Annual Evaluations to the HR office at the end of the year.
New Teachers: You should have a good handle on the performance of your probationary contract teachers based upon PDAS walk-through data. If some are in need of support you should be moving towards a T.I.N.A. by the first of November. You should be focusing on doing their 45 minute observation soon if it has not already been done.
Substitutes: It is requested that as your are out and about in your building to go by and check in on substitutes several times during the day. Make sure that they are up and are engaged with the students. Please remind all teachers that substitute lesson plans must be non technologically based since the one-day only substitute does not and can not have access to the GISD network. All teachers should have "emergency" lesson plans in case of an unexpected last minute absence so that the substitute can keep the class moving forward. Seating charts need to be part of the Substitute Folder for all teachers. October 28 School counselors will participate in training conducted by The American School Counseling Assoc.
