Specific *Communication and the reason for communicating requires a specific purpose
*The reason for communication must be clear, demonstrating clear meaning and a required outcome
*The specific purpose needs to be organised into clear, logical steps from the outcome, from
completion to closure
*Specific personal goals may be set by team goals, or by one person designated as leader by the group
*What is the task?
*When do tasks need to be completed?
*How will tasks be completed?
*Where will tasks be completed?
*Why is the task being set? (reason)

Measurable * Performance standards required to check/measure/acknowledge individual or team progress
*Observing and acknowledging tasks and progress
*Skills and knowledge
*Encouragement of team members
*External factors may need to be considered e.g. barriers to the communication process
relating to assigned tasks such as noise, weather, time, other people, telephones; internet

Analyse *Ensuring tasks assigned are within suitable timeframes not too hard/easy; challenging.
*Analysis of tasks- needs to be reasonable, with implementation suitable and requirements able
to be completed successfully.
*Goals and purposes documented and analysis required ensuring all team members understand those
requirements
*Analysis of team tasks allows members to problem solve, or choose step by step strategies to complete tasks.
*Did the team accomplish its goals?
*What went well?
*What didnt go well?
*What could have been done better?
*How could they have been done better?
*Monitoring other team members and their progress are they under too much pressure with other
commitments?

Successfully *Success is dependent on the needs for the group as with Maslows Hierarchy of needs model-- is it friendship,
belonging or affiliation; for ones own success/self-esteem; being accepted as part of the group or team; and
includes the reason the group has been formed the shared common goal or purpose; dissolution if task
finished asking questions- what could have been improved or done differently? Was the end result successful?
*Success of team or group members may be determined by good listening skills and interpretation of what is
being said or written, from the other team members point of view, not the assumptions of the listeners
*Success can be achieve by being active listeners
*Communication must be open to succeed -Be open to hearing ideas, suggestions and comments from other
team/group members
*Be committed to successful outcomes, and committed to having input and being part of the group/team
*Relies on a high level of member morale and trust
