Press Release PUBLIC LECTURE BY PROFESSOR YASH TANDON This is to inform the University of Dar es Salaam community that, the Senior Advisor of the South Centre, Professor Yash Tandon, will visit the University of Dar es Salaam and deliver a Public Lecture on EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA): Whats in for Africa? at the Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere Mlimani Campus, Tuesday 10th June in Nkrumah Hall from 15:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs. Born in Uganda, Yash Tandon is a Professor, policymaker, political activist, author and public intellectual. He has lectured, researched and published extensively in the areas of International Relations and Political Economy. He was deeply involved in the struggle against the dictatorship of Idi Amin in 1970's Uganda and has spent time in exile. During exile, he taught at the University of Dar es Salaam from 1973 to 1979. He has served as Executive Director of the South Centre which is an intergovernmental think tank of the South founded by leaders of the South, among them China, India, Brazil and a number of African countries. Mwalimu Nyerere was the first Chairman of the South Centre. The current Chairman of the South Centre H.E. former President of the United Republic of Tanzania Benjamin W. Mkapa will attend and contribute to the discussions. Prof. Tandon is currently engaged in advocating for Africa to stand united against pressure from Europe to sign an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rwekaza S.
