Heavy-duty equipment mechanics repair,


troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain
mobile heavy-duty equipment used in
construction, transportation, forestry, mining,
oil and gas, material handling, landscaping, land
clearing, farming and similar activities. They are
employed by companies which own and operate
heavy equipment, and by heavy equipment
dealers, rental and service establishments, and
railway transport companies and urban transit
systems.

expected hours consist of working 5 days a week
from roughly 6:00am- 4:00pm. The job consists of
working all year long and has a high risk of injury if
safety precautions are not followed. The job is
outdoors so the working conditions can go from
cold to hot depending on the time of year. Safety
clothing is required as well as clothing to keep you
warm in the winter.

The school is located in Kelowna BC, the
program is called the Heavy Duty and
Commercial Transport Mechanic program.
This school appeals to me because it is close
to where I live and when attending my job
shadow at the college I enjoyed it a lot.

To attend program in 2013-14: $4,940.84
Textbooks: $1,200.00

B.C. secondary school graduation, or equivalent, or 19 years of age
and out of secondary school for at least one year as of the first day
of classes.
One of: English 10, English 10 First Peoples, an equivalent
Intermediate Level Adult Basic Education English course, or an
ABLE reading comprehension score of at least 77%.
Math requirement: Students graduating from secondary school
in or prior to 2012: Mathematics 11 or an equivalent Advanced
Level Adult Basic Education Mathematics course, or an ABLE
mathematics score of at least 63%. Students entering Grade 10
in or after 2010 and/or completing the new mathematics
curriculum: One of: Apprenticeship and Workplace Mathematics
11, Foundations of Mathematics 11 or, Pre-Calculus 11, or an
equivalent Advanced Level Adult Basic Education Mathematics
course or an ABLE mathematics score of at least 63%.

I am very interested in this career because I
Enjoy taking things apart and putting it back
together in order to make it work. I Have
been interested in this job for about a year
