Lesson: The Perimeter

Pre-requisites:
Measurements
Objectives:
- Objectives from the book (learning outcomes):
Students will be able to:
Calculate the perimeter of different polygons

Instructional Procedures:
Materials needed: Board - book marker laptop projector video speakers
- Planned beginning:
Hello class, today we will learn how to calculate the perimeter of any polygon.
But first, what is a perimeter?
A perimeter is the distance around a figure.
- Body :
Start by reviewing the names of some polygons: I draw a triangle, a rectangle,
and a square. Students should provide the names of these polygons.
Then, I will put the measures of the drawn polygons, and draw other kinds of
triangles (scalene, isosceles, and right triangles), and put the measures of the
sides.
After that, I will remind the students with the definition of the perimeter and
wright it on the board. Then, I will ask the students to read the definition
silently twice and then try to provide me with the perimeters of each polygon.
After that, I will draw more polygons with different shapes and provide the
measurements of the sides, and ask the students to measure the perimeters.
After that, I will provide the students with worksheets to give the
measurement of the perimeters. They will work individually and I will monitor
their work.

- Closure:
Finally, as a revision, I will present a video to the class that summarizes the
whole lesson.
