Purpose

-------
FLVPlayer was developed with the intention to fill the gap where Macromedia Flas
h MX Pro left off. Being an interactive marketing agency we do a lot of video e
ncoding, and unfortunately, there is no stand alone FLV player. That is where F
LVPlayer comes in... FLVPlayer allows FLV files to be opened in numerous ways:
* Double click the file
* Right-click the file and select 'Open' from the context menu
* With FLVPlayer open, click 'Browse' and find the file
* With FLVPlayer open, drag and drop a single FLV file onto the application
The application is intentionally simple. Its sole purpose is previewing FLV fil
es and to aid in the encoding process. Hope you enjoy!
System Requirements
-------------------
Windows XP
Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1
Flash Player 7 (for Internet Explorer - requires the ActiveX be installed)
Installation
------------
1. Unzip the FLVPlayer.zip file
2. Double click FLVPlayerSetup.msi to begin the installation process
3. Follow the on screen prompts to complete the installation
4. You're done! Happy Flash Video encoding!
Manual
------
As discussed earlier, FLVPlayer is an intentionally simple program. For this re
ason, not much of a manual is required. Just to note there are many different w
ays to open your FLV file to begin playback. Below just summarizes them:
* Double click the file
* Right-click the file and select 'Open' from the context menu
* With FLVPlayer open, click 'Browse' and find the file
* With FLVPlayer open, drag and drop a single FLV file onto the application
Technical Notes
---------------
Incase anyone is wondering, FLVPlayer is a developed in C# using the Macromedia
Flash Player 7 ActiveX object to load a SWF. The SWF that is passed the path of
the FLV to play, and is responsible for the actual playback. The entire playba
ck is done using the standard MediaPlayback component that ships with Macromedia
Flash MX Pro. We started with just using a projector file and loading the file
by entering the path, but went to C# when we wanted eliminate the need to enter
the path manually.
