A Little Arithmetic For this example, lets assume that half (300)
of this pools membership are family memberships, 200
memberships are individual, and 100 are senior memberships.
300 x $200 = $ 60,000
200 x $100 = $ 20,000
75 x $75 = $ 7,500
Total Revenue from Memberships = $ 87,500
This means that to reach an expense estimate of $ 350,000 (100k less
than Maumelles estimate) this indoor pool would have to generate
another $ 262,500 in gross revenue. Despite a larger population
than Maumelle, Paragould cannot maintain this pool without a sales
tax issue. The lesson is clear. An indoor pool cannot be revenue
neutral or profitable and must be taxpayer subsidized.
