Worked as the GIS Coordinator and GIS Analyst in the Spatial Applications Research Center (SpARC). Duties
include project management and supervising undergraduate and graduate student personnel; developing and
implementing policies and procedures; training personnel; designing GIS user applications, control access and
system security; developing and maintaining map data files and GIS user applications; organizing and maintaining
archive files, maps, charts and reports; providing IT, computer/teaching laboratory support for SpARC and
Geography department; developing cartographic analysis procedures; representing the SpARC on inter-agency
cooperative projects and developing grant proposals.
8/07-7/10. Dr. C. Brown, supervisor. Worked as a GIS Analyst/Research Associate in the Spatial Applications
Research Center on various grant-funded projects (e.g. Aggie Transit WMA, NMDA Noxious Weeds/Pesticide
Application WMA). Participated in a NGA/NMSU Geography department curriculum alignment project. Worked
as a graduate Teaching Assistant for the Geography department preparing and instructing labs for upper division
courses including: physical geography; urban geography; cartography; introductory GIS techniques and
applications; advanced GIS techniques and applications; spatial, raster and 3-D analysis. Also worked as the
Geography Computer Lab Coordinator for two semesters and was responsible for computer lab upkeep and
maintenance. Worked as the principle GIS technician on the City of Las Cruces/NMSU Geocoding project.

Summary of Qualifications
Geographic Information Systems: Knowledge and understanding of vector and raster geographic data types,
coordinate systems and projections, geodatabases, querying data, geoprocessing, geocoding, geographic
networks, and metadata. Experience with hydrologic modeling, transportation network analysis, and
geocoding using GIS.
Database structure and design: Knowledge and understanding of database system planning Systems Development
Life Cycle (SDLC). Familiarity with Microsoft Access and SQL Server. Familiarity and experience using
Microsoft Visio (process flowcharts, network diagrams, workflow diagrams, database models), Project
(project management tool).
Cartography: Knowledge and experience in designing and producing reference and thematic maps, quantitative
thematic mapping techniques, map production techniques. Proficiency with the following mapping and/or
GIS software; ESRI ArcGIS v 9.3.x, Google Earth, Delorme USA 7.0, TransCAD 5.0, and Microsoft
MapPoint.
Urban and Transportation Planning: Experience with network analysis using ArcGIS and TransCAD 5.0 (utilized
in thesis) software, Las Cruces MPO/Bicycle Facilities Advisory Committee, New Mexico State University
Campus Bike Facilities Committee.
Statistics: Knowledge and understanding of basic statistical principles and practices, i.e. central tendency measures.
Familiarity and experience with Excel and SPSS.
General IT and Computer: knowledge and understanding of computer hardware and system software, basic
troubleshooting skills, webpage and Web Map Application design and development (using ArcGIS Server
Manager and Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0). Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010 (i.e. Word, Excel,
Access, Outlook, PowerPoint). Understanding and basic knowledge of server and network administration.
Communication skills: practiced ability to speak publicly in various settings, i.e. in teaching/training scenarios,
public meetings.
Supervisory: experience supervising up to 30 persons in various settings-i.e. US Army Reserve platoon leader,
public school teacher, AmeriCorps site supervisor, Zuni Search and Rescue team leader/instructor.
