Theinternationalcommunity'sresponsetothegenocideinRwandawasnot
effective.Howcoulditbeeffectiveiftheyapologizedfouryearslater?Forexample,the
internationalcommunityadmitstofailure.Aftertheonehundreddaysofkillingstoppedthe
internationalcommunityrecognisedtheextentofthegenocideandtheeffectsoftheir
failuretoact(GRP10).Iftheinternationalcommunitysaysthattheyfailedtoactthenwhat
theydidwasnotsuccessful.Also,theytriedtohelpfouryearslaterwhentheyweretold
aheadoftimetherewasgoingtobeagenocideandtheycouldhavedonesomethingto
preventit.Anotherexampleofhowheyfailedtoactwasbecause,theUNwithdrewmostof
itstroopsandofficiallylimitedtheactionsofthetinyforceof450soldierswhostayed
behind(GRP3).Sobasically,evenwhentheytriedtohelpandstopthegenocide,theydid
notdoagreatjobbecausewithoutbeingabletoshootordocertainthingstotakecontrol
andstopthegenocidetheyhadtousewordsandnotphysicalforce.TheUnitedNations
(U.N.)says,Nowweknowthatwhatwedidwasnotnearlyenoughtohonortheideasfor
whichtheUnitedNations(U.N.)exists(GRP10).TheUnitedNations(U.N.)helpwasnot
enoughtohelpthegenocide.Theycouldhavehelpedbuttheydeniedsendingmoretroops
sotheUnitedNations(U.N.)didnotdotheirjob.Whydidtheynotdotheirjob?Ibelieve
thattotryyourbestanddoanythingtoprotectpeopleisonething,buttodonothingand
apologizefouryearslaterisadifferentthing.
