CHAOS IN IRAQ SHOWS BUSH & BLAIRS
WAR WAS NOT THE ANSWER
Insurgents in Iraq this week took control of Mosul (a city of two million), Tikrit (the birthplace of
Saddam Hussein) and threatened Baghdad. They continue to hold Fallujah. The Iraq army is melting away.
George Bush and Tony Blair told us they would bring peace and freedom to Iraq: they bought a million
dead, ruin of the countrys infrastructure, and division. The war which they claimed as an indispensable
part of the struggle against international terrorism has led to more violence.
This was no war for democracy but an imperialist occupation for US power and we resolve to oppose
any future Western interventions. The people of the Middle East have the right to decide their own future.
We say spend money on welfare, not warfare
We support the demonstration against the NATO summit in Newport on 30 August.
