Have a great weekend!
...math This past week we nished working with regrouping both
addition and subtraction. Next week we start multiplication! We will
learn the basic concepts of multiplication while learning our facts. The
dollar tree sells multiplication ash cards and they are a great
resource for students to have. We will learn how to make an array,
make equal groups and use repeated addition as our multiplication
strategies. Please help me with my multiplication facts as it is very
important for all 3rd graders to master times tests up until 12 by the
end of the year!
...social studies... We are done with Matter and man oh man did
we have fun! Today after our test we made root beer oats to show
all 3 states of matter! Ask me about it! Next week we will start a new
social studies unit on government and voting! This unit will be 3
weeks with a few extra days depending on extra specials.
language arts We will be reading the story Grandma's Records
while continuing traditions as our story theme. We will focus on
categorizing and classifying as our skill. We will work with diphthongs
"oi/oy" for phonics/spelling. Please encourage your child to try their
best on their spelling contracts. I am starting to see students getting
lazy and having sloppy work.

As a collaborative effort we are striving each day to improve student reading
ability and weekly test scores. This will be an ongoing effort throughout the year. Keep
