Eyre and Wylies expedition started in 1839. They were the first men to cross Australia from East to West, travelling across the Nullarbor Plain from Adelaide to Albany. In 1839 Eyre and Wylie reached lake Torrens. It was all covered in mud when they got there

The expedition lasted 4 and a half months Eyre was rewarded with a gold metal made lieutenant governor of New Zealand Wylie rewarded with pensions and returned to his home with his people
Eyre was born in 1815 and died in 1901 On the expedition water was becoming very scarce at one hard time to survive One of the six white men got murdered from two sneaky aboriginals who were part of the expedition Eyre was born in England and came to Australia when he was seventeen years old
