Read over the assignment sheet, then consider the following points as you assess the writers annotated

bibliography.

1. Take a look at the writer's citation:
- Does it look like the writer used MLA conventions to create the citation?
- Is the citation correct for the source type (Did they use the correct format to cite a book, article, or
digital source? Are all of the elements included and are they in the right order?)

2. Now look at the writer's annotation:
- Does the writer's annotation meet the length requirement?
- Does the writer provide a strong overview of major concepts? (facts)
- Does the writer distinguish what unique points the author made about the topic? (authors opinons)
- What could the writer do to develop this annotation more or make it more useful?

3. Next, look at the key quotes:
- Did the writer record multiple quotes from the source?
- Examine the content of the quotes. Did the writer pick quotes that simply state facts, or did he or she
pick quotes in which the author of the source comments on the subject being discussed?
- Examine the quality of the quotes. Did the writer select quotes that provide a unique or memorable
statement about the subject, or did he or she select generic or forgettable statements?
- Did the writer provide an in-text citation for each quote? Is the citation correct and in the correct
format?

4. Finally, look at how the writer evaluated the source:
- Does the writer provide a strong analysis of the content in the source?
- Does the writer assess the strong and weak points of the writing (i.e. the author's slant, possible biases,
writing style, et cetera).
