TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS ALBANYS WATERFRONT The City of Albany has announced that a public informational meeting will be held to discuss the proposed 1.2 mile Transportation Improvement Project along the Albany Waterfront/Corning Riverfront Park. The City, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration is developing designs to enhance the connections between the Waterfront and the South End, Downtown and North Warehouse neighborhoods. Transportation Enhancements discussion will include: Construction of a new multi-use-path paralleling Quay Street; Installation of a new pedestrian crossing at Colonie Street between the OGS parking lot and Corning Riverfront Park; Improved access to the Corning Riverfront Park at five locations; Pedestrian and bicyclist improvements at the Broadway/Maiden Lane Bridge intersection; and Complete Street amenities along Quay Street. The purpose of the meeting is to obtain comments on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials and local agencies. The City is specifically soliciting comments on the development of alternatives for the project and comments on the projects social, economic and environmental effects. This public informational meeting is part of the continuing efforts by the City, New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to encourage public input into the development of transportation projects.
