(293 pages)
Overall 4/5
Audience: Current, novice or individuals considering to become medical Educators
of all disciplines

Overview:
This Book is divided into 9 chapters written by health care professionals who are
faced with the challenge of educating professions to work in health and social care
sector in todays modern society. The objective of this book is to explore how
individuals of health and social care professions (social work, Nursing, Physicians,
Occupational therapy, Physio therapy) educate new entrants to their profession
through direct engagement with patients and service users in the community or
clinical setting. Case examples are used by the authors that focus on the experiences
of students learning in practice settings: how this is organized, what methods are
used to help students learn their trade and how their abilities are assessed
This book offers a comprehensively written account of recent organizational and
conceptual changes particularly in the UK practice education

Strength: is of great interest to academics and professionals in the fields of health
studies and social work. I highly favor this book because many health disciplines
such as myself-can related to this book. As well this book is very easy to
comprehend and able to apply the knowledge that has been understood into a
practice setting

Weakness: Even though this book was written in 2009 much has changed over the
past 7 years there isnt a subsequent edition available. I would be curious to know
what practice skills and theories have been changed or reserved to practice based
learning in their respective fields.
