It discusses different team structures including generalist teams with broad experience, specialist teams with technical expertise in areas like health or water/sanitation, and multi-disciplinary teams. The benefits and disadvantages of each structure are outlined. Additional factors to consider are the need for language skills, gender balance, and local representation on teams. (assessment fatigue) 2. Hindari Bias 3. Asumsi 4. Technical problems may be overlooked. Staff from any discipline can do the assessment; hence appropriate for continual assessment In extreme situations, assessment teams may need to provide assistance (e.g. during conflict) Tim Assessment Before an Assessment Team Structure Advantages Disadvantages Specialist(s) Can quickly identify problems in their area of expertise May focus too much on own specialist issues and miss the wider context Multi-Disciplinary Technical problems can be investigated in detail, thus avoiding need for immediate follow-up Difficult to assemble the full range of professions, therefore assessments are not frequent Diverse experiences provide broad basis for analysis May not need all technical specialities. Difficult to coordinate team (incompatible methodologies, complicated logistics, etc.) Large teams can present a security threat and can be intimidating to small communities. Assessment team Before an Assessment Other factors to consider: Team Leader Language if possible to include people who speak the language of the area to be assessed, or include interpreter for each team member who does not speak the local language Gender balance try to have mix of men and women in the team Local representation - it is sometimes useful to include representative of the population living in the affected area Bias all people are biased, their perceptions are based on cultural background, experience, professional training and many other factors
