While preparing the corresponding evaluation of the process, feminist
organizations that were present in NY during the last CPD47 wish to fervently
salute the Delegations of Philippines, South Africa, Zambia, Ghana, Surinam,
Belize, Norway, Latin America in general and many more countries who vigorously
supported proposals for progressive consensus.

At the same time, we want to denounce the attitude of the African Group, which
together with ultra conservative allies such as the Vatican, Russia, Qatar, Malta,
Iran, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, decided to stop any possibility of progress
in the recognition of womens rights, going as far as ignoring the achievements
hard won 20 years ago, at the Population and Development Conference held in
Cairo.

After difficult negotiations to reach an agreed text, both the African Group and the
mentioned countries continued to resist addressing key issues for women and
young people. Their tactics consisted in hindering the discussions in the room,
preventing the approval of language that would recognize more autonomy for
people, such as the language relating to sexual rights, families, diversities or legal
abortion.

Feminist organizations demand respect for the human rights of women and we
expect a decisive position to be taken towards the Post-2015 development agenda.
