Vincent van Gogh was born on March 30,

1853, in Groot-Zundert, Netherlands. Van

Gogh was a post-impressionist painter whose
work highly influenced 20th century art. Van
Gogh was poor and mentally depressed for
most of his life. He used his art to help keep
him mentally stable. Van Gogh died in France
on July 29, 1890, at age 37. Today, Vincent
van Gogh is considered the greatest Dutch
painter after Rembrandt. Several of his
paintings rank among the most expensive in
the world.
In 1885, he began working
on one of his first
masterpieces called
Potato Eaters."
Van Gogh has completed 2,100
works, but Starry Night is
considered to be one of the most
famous portraits of all of Van Goghs
work.
