Vol. I, Issue I Grade

First Week of School
Welcome to a new year. We will be very busy this week taking
care of many things in order to better prepare ourselves for
the coming year. There will be folders coming home with
papers to sign and return, and the students will be busy
meeting their classmates and getting use to the daily routines.
We have to learn names, find where our book bags go, learn our
way around the school, and practice safety drills. I look
forward to meeting and working with all of you and we have a
wonderful year ahead of us.
Our Class as a Community
I will be working to establish our
classroom as a sense of family. With that
in mind, they will work together
throughout the year on many tasks not to
mention everyday learning. Also keeping
to the idea of community, I invite you as
parents and guardians to stop by and help
out, volunteer, contribute, and share your
special talents with the class. Please
sign-in at the front desk, and please try
to let us know when you can visit so we
can better prepare our days schedule to
facilitate your visit.

Food / Drink in the Class
Some of our fellow classmates have some
food allergies. Please be mindful of that
when sending in yummy things for the
classroom. Also, we will have snack time
every day. Please make sure that you
package the snack separately from your
childs lunch if they bring lunch, and
please send in healthy finger foods as
they will often be snacking while still
working on other work in the classroom.

Room Helpers
Throughout the year we will have
activities going on in our classroom that
afford parents and guardians the
opportunity to get involved. If you are
able to help plan and organize some of
these parties and activities, please drop
me a note with contact information and
what you are able to help with so we can
divide and conquer making the tasks
easier on all.
School Supplies
Please be aware that most of the school
supplies your student will bring in will be
shared with the classroom. Here is a link
to the school supplies your child will need.
Class Buddy
The students will be choosing a stuffed
animal to be the classroom Buddy.
Throughout the year, Buddy will go home
with a student. During The week they will
write 3-5 journal entries for Buddy
describing what Buddy did that week. I
encourage pictures and drawings or any
additional way the student wishes to
chronicle Buddys week. Buddy will go
home on a Friday and stay with the
student until the next Friday when Buddy
will be passed to the next student. The
Friday your child brings Buddy back to be
turned over to the next student; our
child will have an opportunity to share
with the class Buddys journeys.
