-K-W-L Chart (1.What you Know2.What you Wonder3.What you Learned) Students will complete a chart in which they document what they know about the US Constitution and by extension the US government. In addition they will complete the middle portion in which they will document what they want to know about the Constitution and what questions they may have regarding the US Constitution. The last portion of the chart will be used as a progress-monitoring assessment. Formative Assessment- -K-W-L Chart (Continued) After the initial Entry level assessment of the first two portions of the KWL Chart, students will complete the third portion (what you Learned) in which they document what they have learned throughout the unit. The chart will be submitted several times, with the students adding more information as they learn more. This will allow for me to adapt the content and proceed at a pace appropriate for the students. -Graphic Organizer In order to assess the students knowledge on the topic of Federalism; students will complete a digital graphic. The graphic organizer will be developed Venn diagram format in which the students analyze the similarities and differences between the Federal Government and State Governments. In addition to providing text documentation the students will also have to include a visual guide such as an image in the graphic organizer. -WebQuest Completion Students will access the digital world in a quest to answer key questions presented to them regarding the basics of the three branches of the US government, the WebQuest will be submitted and analyzed to assess student knowledge.
-Quizlet Flash Cards After analyzing through the digital lecture presentation on the Mayflower Compact and foundation and roots of the US Constitution students will complete guided notes to help them create digital flash cards regard the topic. The flash cards will help me assess what the students found to be the most important topics as well as how well they can use the flash cards to study.
Summative Assessment- -Government Story Students will create a story taking place in the far future in which they live in the United States that resembles nothing like the United States today. The United States is ruled by the Elite Consortium (EC), a group of people that are in no way representatives of the citizen of the United States and oppress its people. The EC has destroyed all knowledge of the Constitution. It is up to the character the students create to help inform the citizens of a document known as the United State Constitution and its characteristics to help overthrow the EC and establish a representative government. This will display the students overall knowledge of the US Constitution and government. -The US Constitution Digital Poster Students will create a digital poster in which they present their poster through voice recordings. The poster will display information and images regarding the 7 Articles in the Constitution.
