Today if anyone sponsors the astronomical theories of Aristotle, Ptolemy, or any other

scientist from the past, they are greeted with ridicule. Things like the geocentric model make
no sense in the face of the technology and knowledge we have today. Alternatively, if someone
points out that the universe was created by the Big Bang, many people accept that with very little
debate. Are we so sure about our theories that we automatically deem them correct
There is !ust as much ambiguity with our theories in this time as there were with the
ancients in their time. People from long ago devised the geocentric system because of the
impressions they received when making observations" everything appears to move around #arth.
They lacked the technology with which to show anything and simply chose the most convenient
way of looking at things, even though it turned out to be completely wrong. $ur modern theories
of astronomy are !ust more e%amples of this" the consensus among people all of the world state
that the creation of the universe is probably the result of an e%plosion, with no !ustification as to
happening of it. &n order to truly understand the comple% systems of the universe, more
advancements in technology have to be made and that is something inevitable for future
generations. & don't see a technologically advanced future even considering the idea of a Big
Bang and they will probably regard us the same way someone now would regard Aristotle or
Ptolemy. &f these later generations are actually able to use technology to perform feats such as
making precise measurements of ob!ects even in the depths of space, then their advancement in
finding the cause of the universe would be a given. (ith all of this knowledge, people would be
able to finally ditch the idea of a Big Bang and formulate other more comple% theories, the
same way generations before them have done with everything.
