Making gold in World of Warcraft is not as difficult as it seems. There are really only a handful of
ways to earn. Here is a breakdown on each method:

Mob Grinding – The simplest and most direct method to earning gold. Kill mobs and loot them. You
will earn cash when you kill humanoids. The items you find can be sold on the auction house. When it
comes to Mob Grinding, I’ve done the homework for you and created detailed reports on the best areas
for grinding mobs. Take a look at my Grinding for Gold Reports for more information.

Vendor Recipe/Pattern/Schematic Selling – This is an extremely lucrative method for earning gold
and I’m surprised that only a handful of players participate in this. Basically, you find limited supply
recipes from remote vendors, buy them, and then sell them on the Auction House for a substantial
profit. For a list of items you can buy and sell on the AH for a substantial profit, take a look at my New
Player Gold Guide and my Passive Income Reports.

Questing – There are many repeatable quests for level 70 players that pay gold as a reward. This is
Blizzard’s way of helping players earn gold and reputation rewards. Unfortunately, lower level
characters don’t have too many repeatable quests that pay upon completion. For a complete breakdown
on quests, I suggest you visit WowWiki.com at this page: http://www.wowwiki.com/Quest

Gathering – There are two gathering professions: mining and herbalism. Both of these allow you to
gather items from the environment. You can then sell these items on the Auction House or use them for
your secondary profession. Make sure you read my Herbalism and Mining Reports. You must visit this
site if you are going to level mining and herbalism: http://mapwow.com/ - this site will show you
exactly where all the herbs and ores are on all continents! It’s extremely useful for finding the ores and
herbs you need. You can find a great guide for leveling herbalism here:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=516. For leveling mining, here is another great
guide at khazam: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=392.

Skinning – Those who choose Skinning as one of their professions can skin beasts and resell the hides
on the Auction House. For a breakdown on locations and the highest priced skins currently in-game,
take a look at my Skinning Report.

Crafting – Crafting professions allow you to create weapons, gear, trinkets, and in some cases you can
create recipes for other professions. In order to make money by crafting gear, you will need to either
purchase hard to find recipes from the auction house or earn reputation with various factions and

acquire their bind on pickup recipes. For a complete list of faction-earned recipes, visit:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Faction. For a complete list of professions and the items they can craft, visit:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/skill.html. Once you have attained a level where you can craft items for
other players, you can either craft the item and sell it on the AH, or you can offer to craft the item for a
flat fee (using the customer’s materials) on the trade channel.

Potions – Alchemy allows you to create potions and elixirs. If you have Alchemy and Herbalism, you
can make a very nice profit creating potions and selling them to other players on the Auction House.
For a complete breakdown on potions created by alchemy, visit:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/skill.html?line=171.

Jewelcrafting – The addition of socketed gear created a need for a new profession and Jewelcrafting
was the answer. Make gems for other players and sell them on the Auction House. For a complete list
of jewelcrafting recipes, visit: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/skill.html?line=755.

Auction House – The Auction House is the central point for transactions. Many players make costly
mistakes when buying and selling from the auction house. And there are ways for getting what you
want for less than the price asked on the AH. Learn all about the Auction House in my Auction House
guide.

Auction House Reselling – Many players spend the time scanning the auction house and buying
incorrectly priced items and relisting it at a much higher price. In my opinion, the amount of time
required to hunt the AH and buy/relist items does not make it worthwhile (I’ve tried it). However, if
you want to download an excellent mod for scanning the auction house, you can download one here:
http://auctioneeraddon.com/. The Auctioneer website has a forum where you can ask questions and
learn how other people use the mod to make money.

Trade Channel – This has been one of my favorite methods for making gold. When players sell items
on the Trade Channel, they are basically desparate for cash. The player who has a surplus of cash can
capitalize on this fact. To learn more, read my guide Trade Channel Secrets.

Those are the primary methods for making gold in World of Warcraft. This guide will expand over
time. Please make sure you request updates as they are released. Add your name to my mailing list at
BossKilling.com. I notify everyone on my mailing list whenever I release an update and anyone who
has a valid receipt is entitled to lifetime updates to the guide.
