Congruence Triangles Two triangles are congruent if their
corresponding line segments are the same length, and their
corresponding angles are the same length.

Note: The blue curves indicate congruent angles. The red
dashes indicate congruent sides.

What is a congruence postulate?

A congruence postulate allows us to prove that two triangles are
congruent.
Given limited information like knowing two sets of corresponding
sides are congruent an one set of angles is congruent we can
determine that both triangles are congruent.
In the following slides, youll see example of the following postulates:
SSS, ASA, SAS, AAS (A represents angle, S represents side)
Note: There is not an SSA nor AA postulate.
SSS
ASA
AAS
SAS
One More Thing.
Sometimes, youll be given two triangles that share a side.
Also, sometimes more than 1 congruence postulate applies.
Case 1: Use SSS. Line AC is clearly congruent to itself!
Case 2: Use SAS.
