RE: Application for Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology
Dear Dr. Anne Marcotte,
It is with great pleasure that I submit my application packet for a Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at The University of Georgia. I have volunteered over 200 hours through an internship at OT Connection, a pediatric therapy clinic, which gave me the opportunity to experience and enjoy several different aspects of the speech-language pathology field. I am currently completing my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, which I feel will enhance my abilities as a therapist.
My volunteer background has included the following: speech therapist aid/tech, academic mentor, camp leader for children with disabilities, and Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser.
My bachelors Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences has provided me with the knowledge of human development, individuals in family context, relationships, and well being within the family and the broader social, economic, community, and governmental environment.
The University of Georgia CMSD program came highly recommended by graduate students and speech language pathologists that I have talked with, and the curriculum is outstanding. Through my research on deciding which school to attend, I found that The University of Georgia offers several related masters programs in speech-language pathology. I would be proud to be a student in The University of Georgia CMSD program.
Through my volunteer work at OT Connection I have developed a compassionate approach and commitment to assisting children with speech impairments. I would enjoy becoming a speech therapist and look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Thank you for your consideration.
