1. Every student taking Additional Mathematics in Form 5 is required to carry out a
project work.
2. he aims o! carrying out this project work are"
i. to apply and adapt a variety o! pro#lem$ solving strategies to solve pro#lems%
ii. to improve thinking skills%
iii. to promote e!!ective mathematical communication%
iv. to develop mathematical knowledge through pro#lem solving in a way that
increases students& interest and con!idence%
v. to use the language o! mathematics to e'press mathematical ideas precisely%
vi. to provide learning environment that stimulates and enhances e!!ective
learning%
vii. to develop positive attitude towards mathematics.
(. he task and the ru#ric are to #e distri#uted to the students together with the
guidelines. eacher need to discuss with their students regarding the guidelines and
the contents o! the ru#ric. eachers need to guide their students in the process o!
carrying out the project. )owever* teachers are reminded not to give the solution to
their students.
+. ,roject work can #e done in groups or individually #ut each student is e'pected to
su#mit an individually written report which includes the !ollowing"

5. 0tudents are given three weeks to carry out the project. 4ritten report must #e handed

6. eachers are to mark the written report according to the ru#ric. 0olution provided is
only a #rie! guideline. -emind students that they are required to present a complete
report with e!!ective mathematical communication and good reasoning.
