Time
15 minutes
Preparation
Duplicate one copy of the worksheet for each pair.
Procedure
1. Put students in pairs and distribute worksheets. Each pair
receives one worksheet. Give students some time to read
the information on the sheet. Answer any questions about
the pronunciation of names or nicknames, or about the
location of cities mentioned on the sheet.
2. Tell students that the people on the worksheet have many
things in common. To show this, ask questions about
the people on the sheet. For example: Is David Lopez
Mexican? (Yes.) How many people on the worksheet are
Mexican? (Five.)
3. Model the activity. Tell students you are thinking of a
person on the worksheet. Have them ask you yes / no
questions to guess who it is. For example, for Carlos
Gomez: Is the person a man? (Yes.) Is he from Mexico?
(Yes.) Is he a singer? (No.) Is he an artist? (Yes.) Is he
Carlos Gomez? (Yes.)
4. Have students continue playing the guessing game in
pairs. Tell them to take turns thinking of a person and
guessing.
5. As students are working, walk around to monitor the
activity and help as needed. Make note of any errors or
problems to review later. End the activity promptly after
15 minutes.
