MATERIALS AND METHODS

The plant was observed. The condition of its leaves and soil were recorded. Few leaves
of about the same age were took from the plant and placed in a polybag contained a
damp filter paper. Three replicates were made. Ten pieces of tissues from the leaves
were obtained by using a cork borer. These tissues were then placed in a petri dish with
damp filter paper. The tissues were weighted and their fresh weight (FW) were
obtained. The tissues then were places into petri dish contained 10 ml of distilled water.
A piece of filter paper was placed on top of them to submerge the tissues in the water.
The tissues pieces were blot dried with tissue after 20 minutes. It then weighted and
turgid weight (TW) were obtained. The tissues pieces were placed and dried in an oven
at 80 degree celcius and weighted after 24 hours. Dry weight (DW) of the tissues pieces
were obtained.
