    RAM is intermediate between processor and
    operating system.
    And it consist of memory cells arranged on
    spread sheet.
    The data in the binary form i.e. 0s and 1s can be
    accessed and transferred at random to the processor for
    processing by the system software.

    It is also called as cache memory. there are three
    types of cache memory.
    1).L1 cache memory:
    It is located in processor it self and can be called
    as internal memory.
    2).L2 cache memory:
    It is found on external card.
    3).L3 cache memory:
    It is used in servers.

    Comparing with static RAM it is possible to
    change the configuration according to our requirements
    in dynamic RAM.
    Types of dynamic RAM:
    EDO RAM
    SD RAM
    DDR
    DDR2
    DDR3



    It is an earlier dynamic RAM chip that improved the
    performance as memory usage.

    The accessing of the data using single data rate is
    done only by rising edges.
    It gives the signal on rising edge not on falling edge
    i.e. single data rate.
    SD RAM is synchronous dynamic RAM. As for
    working we can call it as single data rate RAM.

    SD RAM contains two notches
    It contains 168 pins and 84 each
    side.
    Access time is 6 to 12 ns.
    Running at 66Hz.



    The accessing of the data using double data rate is
    done both by rising edge and falling edge.
    Double data rate dynamic RAM works on both rising
    edge and falling edge.
    It has the single notch on right side.
    Consist of 184 pins and 92 pins each side.
    Speed 66-233Hz,Memory 128-512 MB


    Double data rate2 dynamic RAM also works on both
    rising edge and falling edge.
    It has the single notch at middle.
    Consist of 240 pins and 120 pins each side.
    Speed 533-800Hz,Memory 256MB-2GB.

    Double data rate2 dynamic RAM also works on both
    rising edge and falling edge.
    It has the single notch at left side.
    Consist of 240 pins and 120 pins each side.
    Speed 800-1033Hz,Memory 256MB-4GB.
