    Acts

    Laws passed by the body or bodies acting as national legislature from 1900 to the establishment
    of the Commonwealth in 1935 are denominated as "Acts" (or sometimes "public acts"). There
    were 4,275 acts.
    Commonwealth Acts
    The Commonwealth of the Philippines governed the country from 1935 to 1946. There were a
    total of 733 Commonwealth Acts.
    Republic Acts
    Laws passed by the Philippine Congress from 1946 to 1972 and then from 1987 onwards are
    denominated "Republic Acts".
    Presidential Decrees
    From 1972 to 1986, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos issued Presidential Decrees which had legislative
    force. There were a total of 2,034 Presidential Decrees.
    Batas Pambansa
    Batas Pambansa (National Laws) were enacted by the Interim and Regular Batasang Pambansa
    in 1979-1985. There were a total of 889 Batas Pambansa.
    Executive Orders
    After the 1986 EDSA Revolution, Pres. Cory Aquino issued Executive Orders with legislative
    force. A total of 297 such Executive Orders were issued.
