What is Research? Based on Oxford Concise Dictionary, it is the systematic investigation into and
study of materials, sources and other else in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions. It is
also an endeavor to discover new or collate old facts by the scientific study of a subject. It is a
creative work undertaken on a systematic basis in order to increase the stock knowledge, including
knowledge of man, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new
applications.
I made an interview between professional people and normal people. I investigate on how they
analyze of what is research. One of the professionals, an accounting officer, said that research is
searching or to innovate something for unknown subject to discover new ideas. He also said that
research is never endless. One that inspired me the most was a professional doctor telling me that
research is an ever changing field. We are doing research to accomplish something and doing
intelligence work supported by fact documents. It is the relation between us and our surroundings
because questioning is a form of research to enhance what you know.
Next, are the ideas of non-professionals. I had an interaction between a student, a carpenter, a
shoemaker and a couple. Their ideas are somewhat related also to what research really is but broader
than the professionals. For them research is the matter of searching without using scientific methods.
Research is to discover something new.
We have our own ideals on Research. What I understand on research was, Research is for everybody,
there is no exemption on doing Research. Research doesnt choose. It is for people who are willing to
learn and to have a deep knowledge of Research. We have our own perspectives but we have one
goal, to think.
