The Monkey King
The monkey king is the king of Flower Fruit Mountain and has many loyal
subjects. He practices the four major disciplines of invulnerability;
invulnerability to fire, invulnerability to cold, invulnerability to drowning, and
invulnerability to wounds. The monkey king also practices the four major
disciplines of bodily form; giant form, miniature form, hair-into-clones, and
shape shift. Throughout all of this, the monkey king has a hard time accepting
that he was born a monkey and he will always be a monkey.
Chin-Kee
Chin-Kee is Dannys so called cousin. He wears a Chinese robe and wears his
hair in a long braid. He comes to America to visit Danny once every year and in
the process embarrasses him with his behavior and alienates him from his
friends. For example, Chin-Kee embarrasses Danny by answering every
question right in every class. Chin-Kee says, See, cousin Da-nee? Chin-Kee tol
you! Chin-Kee know!
Jin
Jin is a typical teenage boy with a crush. He becomes friends with a small
Chinese boy named Wei-Chan. Together, they do everything together. Soon
enough, Wei-Chan starts dating Suzy Nakamura.
Jin is characterized by how easily he becomes embarrassed when he feels others
are making fun of his Asian heritage. Jin is a shy boy who is embarrassed for
being different than everyone else in his age group. His two friends, Wei-Chan
and Suzy, start to make fun of Jin for what he said when he knocked the test
tubes over in front of Amelia. Jin was so nervous that instead of saying, At
least I didnt break the rest he says, At least I didnt rake the breast.
