Victorian Era, 2013

Fabrics, wood, thread and stamps
Project statement:
This work is an inspiration from my connection to the Victorian period. The
images are inspired by that timeline, and the wrapping of the wood is a
connection to the work of Christo. The purpose of this work is to give the
viewer a sense of the Victorian era and to bring back to life a moment where
one can experience a narrative describing that time. The use of the abaya and
kandora is in direct connection to my culture, thus by bringing these forms
together, I celebrate them.
