Artist Statement

To be human is to live between worlds, as both man and animal. This duality appears in

my work through a juxtaposition of form and imagery, presenting the man-made with the

natural. These juxtapositions reveal a hybridity, reflecting our own liminality as both

creature and creator; as a result, this allows freedom for an object to become several

things at once, as we exist in different realms simultaneously. But what happens as we

stray farther and farther from our origins on one side of the spectrum? What happens as

we relinquish old relationships for new ones? This is an exploration into my own

confused nature as a human being, living in a world where our minds are leading us, but

where our bodies have taken us.
