Whats physics?

Physics is a systematic
study of the natural
world, a discipline that
attempts to quantify
reality through a
precise application of
observation coupled
with logic and reason
PHYSICS IS THE
SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF
MATTER AND ENERGY AND
HOW THEY INTERACT
WITH EACH OTHER
MOTION, LIGHT, ELECTRICITY,
RADIATION, GRAVITY
matter on scales
ranging from sub-
atomic particles (i.e.
the particles that
make up the atom
and the particles that
make up those
particles) to stars and
even entire galaxies.
How Physics Works
 It uses scientific method to
formulate & Test hypothesis
 Hypothesis is based on
observation of real world
 Major goal is to formulate
scientific laws using the
results
 These laws are generally in
mathematical form to
understand different

specifically the electron properties of
the atom

Computational Physics - the

application of numerical methods to

solve physical problems for which a
quantitative theory already exists
