INTRODUCTION
This is the seventy-third issue (Vol. 21 - No. 1) of the new format of the Statistical
Bulletin published by the Bureau of Statistics. It is intended to provide the most
recent available annual, quarterly and monthly data on a variety of subjects,
illustrating important economic, social, demographic and climatic trends in
Guyana.
The Statistical Bulletin covers data on the environment, demography, social
indicators, production, national accounts, prices, external trade, finance, labour,
social security and transportation. Inclusive in this statistical publication is an
outline of each section, which gives the user a clear idea of what is captured in each
section of the bulletin.
The usefulness of this publication in providing up-to-date statistics for various
purposes needs no emphasis. It is the major function of the Bureau of Statistics to
improve statistical knowledge by providing accurate and timely statistics on
various sectors of the economy.
Despite the unavailability of data for some areas the present bulletin has covered a
wide range of subjects, which we hope, will meet the needs of data users. The
Bureau of Statistics welcomes any suggestions and/or comments to improve the
scope and coverage of the forthcoming issue of the publication.
