indu’s initiation into the world of dance was
through Bharata Natyam which she learnt
at the Bhatkhande Sangeet Mahavidyalaya,
Lucknow. Later, finding herself drawn towards
Odissi, she took to learning the style from the leading
Odissi exponent Smt. Madhavi Mudgal and imbibed
the deeper nuances of her guru’s art by living in close
proximity with her for many years. She has also
been fortunate to have received guidance from Guru
Kelucharan Mahapatra.

BINDU JUNEJA
Presently, she has been studying the Kathakali
technique of movement from the well known
Kathakali maestro Margi Vijay Kumar and has also
been receiving guidance in abhinaya from the doyen
of Mohiniattam Dr. Kanak Rele.

Bindu presents in her dance, a rich blend of form and

grace, perfection and poise. Her immaculate aesthetic
sense and command over the finer aspects of Odissi
affirm her identity as a refined and sensitive exponent
of this dance style.

She has been a recipient of the Junior

Research Fellowship of the deptt.
of culture, govt. of India and also
its production grant for a thematic
presentation entitled ‘Sakshatkar
– Unravelling the True Nature of
Jagannath.’

An empanelled artiste of ICCR and an

‘A’ grade artiste of Doordarshan, Bindu
currently trains students at her own
dance academy, ‘Parn’ at Bhopal.
