Communication Arts 1
Thinking and Study Skills

The course reinforces the reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills learned in the secondary
level by developing basic communicative competence needed for the next phase of English course. It
also includes learning effective study skills, building the vocabulary acquiring sentence effectiveness
applicable to the various communication functions of language. The course also culminates in paragraph
writing.
The course is designed for proper logical habit of thinking, listening, reading, and writing good
effective English; Basic grammatical structures in English, parts of speech, nouns, pronouns, verbs,
preposition, adverbs, adjectives, use of library resources and vocabulary improvement.

General Psychology

Thus is course covers the significance of understanding human behavior. It covers the discussion
on the development of the individual and the various bodily mechanisms which behavior, the dynamics
of behavior: perception, intelligence, motivation, emotions, learning, thinking, personality and
adjustment.

Technical Writing

(Pre-requisite: Com. Arts 1; Com. Arts 2)
The course deals with developing skills and activities in making reports, term papers and writing
situational cases. The course also involves writing business letters and correspondences.
This course focuses on the kinds of writing required for engineers and other science and
technology professionals. Lessons are geared towards the concepts of scientific writing, steps in
preparing various forms, nature, types and elements of reports.
