He may say (boastfully):

(boastfully): "Wealth have I squandered in abundance!"

Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?

(The City)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

١ ِ
ََْ‫ا‬ ‫َ ُأِْ ُ ِ

َ َا‬
1. I do call to witness this City --

٢ ِ
ََْ‫ا‬ ‫ ِ  ِ
َ َا‬
َ َ‫َوأ‬
2. And thou art a freeman of this City --

٣ َ
َ‫و‬
َ َ‫َووَاِ ٍ
َو‬
3. And (the mystic ties of) Parent and Child --

٤ ٍ
ََ‫ن "ِ! آ‬

َ َِ$ْ‫َ ا‬%ْ&ََ' ْ
َ&َ
4. Verily We have created Man into toil and struggle.

٥ ٌ
َ‫ْ ِ* َأ‬+ََ, ‫َ&ْ ِ
َر‬. /0 ‫ أَن‬1

ُ َْ2َ.‫َأ‬
5. Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?

٦ ‫َ
ًا‬5 ًَ 

ُ ْ6َْ‫ ُل َأه‬9ُ&َ.
6. He may say (boastfully):
"Wealth have I squandered in abundance!"

٧ ٌ
َ‫َ َ< ُ; َأ‬. ْ0 ‫ أَن‬1

ُ َْ2َ.‫َأ‬
7. Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?

٨ ِ /ْ+َ%ْ+َ, *ُ 0 َ>ْ?َ َْ‫َأ‬

8. Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? --

٩ /
ِ ْ+َAَBَC‫َوًَِ َو‬
9. And a tongue, and a pair of lips? --

١٠ /
ِ ْ.
َ ْ?0%‫َ ُ; ا‬%ْ.
َ َ‫َوه‬
10. And shown him the two highways?
 ١١ Fَ ََ&َ>ْ‫َ َ ا‬2َAْ‫"ََ ا‬
11. But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.

١٢ Fُ ََ&َ>ْ‫ك َ ا‬

َ ‫َوَ َأدْرَا‬
12. And what will explain to thee the path that is steep? --

١٣ Fٍ ََ‫ َر‬I

5 َ"
13. (It is:) freeing the bondman;

١٤ Fٍ ََJَْ ‫ْ ٍم ذِي‬9َ. !ِ" ٌ‫ْ>َم‬N‫َأوْ ِإ‬

14. Or the giving of food in a day of privation

١٥ Fٍ َ<َ ْ&َ ‫ً ذَا‬P+ِAَ.

15. To the orphan with claims of relationship,

١٦ Fٍ َ<َ ْAَ ‫ً ذَا‬%+ِ6ِْ ْ‫َأو‬

16. Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.

١٧ ِ FَPَْ<َPِْ ‫ْا‬9َQ‫َا‬9َ‫ْ ِ< َوﺕ‬0Sِ ‫ْا‬9َQ‫َا‬9َ‫ا َوﺕ‬9ُ%َT /

َ .ِ 0‫ ا‬/
َ ِ ‫ن‬
َ َ‫ آ‬0 ُU
17. Then will he be of those
who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness
and compassion.

١٨ Fِ َ%َPْ+َPْ‫ب ا‬
ُ َ2ْQ‫ َأ‬I
َ ِWَْ‫ُأو‬
18. Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.

١٩ Fِ ََXْYَPْ‫ب ا‬
ُ َ2ْQ‫َ هُْ َأ‬%ِ‫َﺕ‬.Zِ ‫َ<ُوا‬Bَ‫َ آ‬/.ِ 0‫وَا‬
19. But those who reject Our Signs,
they are the (unhappy) companions of the Left Hand.

٢٠ ٌ‫َ َ
ة‬Qْ\5 ٌ‫ْ

ِْ َر‬+ََ,
20. On them will be Fire Vaulted over (all round)..
