Choose a few of your interests and
brainstorm possible hobbies and/or careers
involving each one
Whoa! This can get overwhelming fast!
For a moment, lets put future careers on
hold, and think just about extracurricular
activities.
Perhaps you are athletic, musical, and
interested in student government as well as
a few of the academic teams at school.
Why do I have to choose?
If Im good at everything,
why not just do it all?
Tough Choices
Be sure you have some time to RELAX
Have enough time to excel in the activities
that you choose having too many may
leave you unsatisfied and always knowing
you could do better.
Tough Choices
If you know that you need to slim down your
extracurricular activities, consider using a
matrix to help decide.
Brainstorm the reasons you might do
activities like: relaxing, challenging, great
opportunities for scholarships, meet new
friends, travel opportunities, enjoyment
Tough Choices
Place the attributes that are MOST
important to you on the top row of a table,
and list the activities down the first column.
Rank each activity to find its overall score
Matrix Example
Of course, some characteristics might be more important
than others! This strategy just HELPS make decisions you
certainly arent tied to the result!

What about my future?
If you have strong talents and interests in
multiple fields consider the following:
How could my interests be combined? Talk with
a career counselor to see if there are possibilities
that you have never considered!
Which interests would make great hobbies?
How would each interest effect your overall
lifestyle?
