Bouncy Ball Lab
Purpose:
-We are determining how the number of bounces will change with the height that
the bouncy ball is thrown from. In the lab, we will throw the bouncy ball from
different heights and then count the number of bounces.

Hypothesis:
-If we drop the ball from lower distance, then it will bounce more
times.

Materials:
Meter Stick
Ping Pong Ball

Procedure:
We each got a partner and one person dropped the bouncy ball from the appropriate
height while the other person counted the number of bounces. Hold the ball at 40 cm
and drop the ball when you are told to. Count the number of bounces for the first 5
seconds. Then repeat this step with each of the heights. After you have found and
recorded all of the bounces, find the average.
Data:
Height of
Drop(cm)
Number of
Bounces
(1st try)
Number of
Bounces
(2nd try)
Average
Number of
Bounces
40 cm 17 16 16.5
60 cm 15 15 15
80 cm 14 15 14.5
100 cm 12 13 12.5

Conclusion: From our recorded data, the higher the distance that you drop the ball,
the fewer times it will bounce.
